Symposium on Legal System Changes to Address Climate Change and the Energy Transition

April 14, 2022, at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin!

Registration is now closed.

The Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section (ENRLS) in conjunction with the Texas Environmental Law Journal (TELJ) is excited to announce our first Symposium on Legal System Changes to Address Climate Change and the Energy Transition.   The Symposium will bring together current practitioners in the area of climate change law with scholars and emerging thought leaders.   A special edition of the Texas Environmental Law Journal is also being published in conjunction with the event.

The Symposium will cover a range of subjects on the important and urgent topics of climate and energy transition.   We expect it to be eye-opening and to provide deep and thoughtful insights into this very complex arena.  The full program agenda is being finalized and an agenda will be announced early in 2022.  The Symposium will seek CLE accreditation from the State Bar of Texas and anticipate providing approximately 5 hours of CLE.  The program will include presentations and discussion on topics such as:

  • The role of corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices
  • Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS)
  • Intellectual property law and diffusion of green technology
  • Transportation electrification
  • Developing commercial terms and contracting standards to enable the energy transition

A buffet breakfast and lunch are included in the registration.   A reception will follow the Symposium.

Register early!  In-person attendance is limited to 200 people.   The Symposium planners want to ensure the event is safe. We encourage attendees to follow CDC guidance related to COVID-19 and we are limiting the registration to ensure adequate spacing.   Updates will be provided based on the Bullock Museum’s requirements and applicable governmental requirements as we get closer to the event.  However, registrants should be prepared that masking and social distancing may be necessary.

Cancellation Policy:  Cancellations received by email by COB on March 25, 2022 will receive a full refund.  Cancellations received after March 25th will not receive a refund, however you can substitute an attendee by notifying us by email before April 8.
