Law School Seminars
The Committee works with each of the law schools across
the State to sponsor environmental seminars annually,
on behalf of the Section. The Committee member assigned
to the law school assists the students in preparing
the program.
The seminars feature attorneys from the various sectors
of environmental law, speaking either on career opportunities
or substantive law, depending upon the type of program
the students are interested in having. There is no standard
program for one of these seminars. Historically, the
seminars have greatly ranged in content. For instance,
one year the seminar at the University of Texas consisted
of a full-day CLE-accredited program. Local members
of the Section are invited to attend the seminar. The
program includes time for the students to mingle with
the attorneys, such as a reception following the program
or a luncheon.
The costs of the seminars are offset by donations from
sponsoring law firms. In return for support, the law
firms receive recognition as a co-sponsor on all of
the seminar programs and publicity materials.
