Five Members Honored for Outstanding Service
Five members were honored for their outstanding service to the Section at the Environmental & Natural Resources Law Section Annual Meeting, held on August 6, in Austin.

Aileen Hooks has been a Recent Developments Columnist for the Texas Environmental Law Journal since the spring of 1991, contributing to 48 issues. Aileen is a partner in the Austin office of Baker Botts.

Mary Sahs (shown here moderating a panel at the Environmental Superconference dressed as Paris Hilton). Mary has been very involved in the Environmental Superconference, serving in some capacity in virtually all of them. Mary also served as the first Chair of the Law School Committee, which was set up in the late 1980’s. Mary has held a number of offices in the Section, including treasurer, secretary, vice-chair and chair-elect. She also was a contributor to the Journal for a number of years. Mary is a principal in Sahs & Associates in Austin. |

Cindy Smiley has been an integral part of the Environmental Superconference since the beginning. She has spent innumerable hours behind the scenes, planning skits, helping where she could. The Environmental Superconference owes a great deal of its success to Cindy. Cindy is a Director in the Austin office of Kelly, Hart and Hallman. |

Bob Stokes has been a long-serving member of the Section’s Law School Committee, responsible for the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Bob has been on the Committee for around ten years, and has been instrumental in the success of the Law School Program. Bob is the President and General Counsel of the Galveston Bay Foundation. |

John Turney has written the Air Recent Developments column for the Texas Environmental Law Journal since July of 1980. John has contributed to 99 issues of the Journal. John also served as Chair of the Section from 1990-1991. John is a name partner in Bell, Turney, Coogan & Richards in Austin. |
At the Annual Meeting, ENRLS Chair Connie Westfall recognized the accomplishments of each of the five recipients and presented them with an engraved marble paperweight. |
