| ENRLS Awards State Agency Internships to Law Students |

The Section awarded internships to three deserving law students, Gregory Graml, Angela Hodges, and Kimberly Logue. Gregory will spend six weeks this summer at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Kimberly Logue will intern at the Railroad Commission. Angela will spend her his internship at the Natural Resources Division of the Office of the Attorney General. Read More>> |

| ENRLS Member Andrew Strong Discusses His Run For President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas. |

At 4:30 a.m. on March 23rd, Andrew Strong was heading out to Houston’s Love Field to fly to Dallas for another day of “meet and greets” at Dallas law firms, punctuated by luncheon and dinner speech engagements. He knew that the election for State Bar President is often decided by the votes of Dallas and Houston lawyers, and had scheduled his time accordingly.
It was a fast-paced quest, starting in late January when he accepted the nomination of the State Bar Board of Directors to run as one of the two candidates for President-Elect of the State Bar. The other nominee, Gib Walton, was also from Houston. Read More >>

The Austin law firm of Bickerstaff, Heath, Pollan, Kever & McDaniel, L.L.P. has recently changed its name to Bickerstaff, Heath, Pollan & Caroom, L.L.P.
Melinda Taylor recently joined the faculty at the University of Texas School of Law to run the Environmental Law Clinic. Ms. Taylor is also “Of Counsel” in the Environmental and Land Use section at the law firm of Smith, Robertson, Elliot, Glen, Klein & Bell. Read More >>

Cummins v. Travis County Water Control and Improvement Dist. No. 17,175 S.W.3d 34 (Tex.App. — Austin 2005). The Texas Supreme Court denied Cummins’ petition for review on April 21, 2006. The Cummins were seeking to overturn the Court of Appeal’s decision that they did not have littoral or riparian rights to use Lake Travis despite their ownership of land along the shore of the Lake.
